Expedition Pre-Departure Event

Expeditin Team sports their new Elliot Brown watches at pre-departure event on HQS Wellington

The expedition team of Antarctic Quest 21 are preparing for their departure: a final training in the Alps in a week’s time and then they’ll be off to Ushuaia, Argentina, where they will meet the ship SeaVenture of Polar Latitudes, which has carried the equipment South and will drop the team on the ice at Portal Point mid-December.

To mark their departure appropriately, we organised a gathering for our generous sponsors an patrons on the HQS Wellington, headquarters of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners.

The party was hosted by Phil Carrotte and addressed by the expedition leader Paul Hart, senior patron the Honourable Alexandra Shackleton, science patron Lieutenant General Richard Nugee CB CVO CBE and representatives of our sponsors Elliot Brown and BetterYou. Expedition medic Dr Alex Cross explained nutritional requirements for the team, Antony Jinman explained the expedition’s educational legacy programme and I explained the global context of our scientific projects.

A great team effort and pleasant evening of exchanging stories and networking!
