The expedition team are departing London Heathrow for Buenos Aires on Friday, 10th December 2021 and will board Polar Latitude‘s SeaVenture in Ushuaia a couple of days later. Then it’s across Drakes Passage and onto the Antarctic Peninsula at Portal Point.
Richard Simpson, seasoned Antarctic and Arctic ski mountaineer and communications expert, put together this video of the team’s journey and route on the Antarctic Peninsula, which will take them from the western shores across the Forbidden Plateau at altitudes over 2000 m to the shores of the Weddell Sea.
Along their track, they will take samples, make meteorological observations and install scientific equipment to provide data that enhances scientific understanding and the accuracy of climate change prediction models.
